At Soma Bay there is a long pier extending about a hundred yards out. You can enter the beach through the Sheraton Soma Bay Resort. From here its a short walk to the pier. You can also go to Tobia Island, a small sandbank located in the middle of the bay of Safaga. Here you can enjoy the beautiful corals in the shallow water. You can book excursions to Tobia Island at the several diving and aqua centres in the area.
