How to get there: Santa Barbara Island is 38 miles from San Pedro, California and is the smallest of the California Channel Islands. The travel time is 2.5 to 3 hours depending on which harbor the trip departs from. The only access to the water is from the Landing Cove where a ladder leads to water about 15 feet deep.

Things to See: Sea urchins, sea stars and schools of garibaldi fish. Colored bouquets of anemones, starfish, sponges ,moray eels, octopus, abalone and rock scallops.
Hazards: currents and swell. A wetsuit and a hood are recommended year-round.
